5 days in to our trek

Sofie blog   We are now on day five of our adventure. After spending the night in a little village near the river we arrived in Tengbuche. I    reached the top of the valley where the village is first so I scoped out a place to stay. The village was a lot smaller than I imagined. There was really only three tea houses to stay in. One of them was a luxury hotel which was more than $100 a night for each person. In comparison the other places we stayed in before were only about two fifty to five dollars for one room a night but most don’t include wifi or charging. When everyone else arrived we picked a tea house which costed $10 per room and included wifi and charging. We noticed that the farther into the mountains we get the more expensive everything became. After we settled in we laid in the sun and made friends with the local horse which acts like a guard dog. While we laid in the sun we enjoyed the view. The great peaks of the Himalayas loomed over the village lik...

Kathmandu - dogwomandont

Kathmandu - by Sofie  We arrived in Kathmandu and drove to our hotel. The driving reminded me a lot of Egypt because it seems like there is no road rules. Dad convinced us that we were going to be sleeping on dirt floors and having cold showers. We were pleasantly surprised when we had big comfy beds and super hot showers. The next day we had the breakfast and sat on the roof. We saw the various temples and mountains overlooking the city after the sunrise. After breakfast we wandered around the town and walked to a monkey temple nearby. There was so many monkeys and they scared me a little. I made friends with some little kids. We walked around all the street shops and saw so many jackets. The streets smelled of incense and cooking food. We ate dinner on the rooftop restaurant at the hotel and tried traditional Nepalese momos for the first time. They tasted like delicious little dumplings of happiness. The next day we went out wandering again. We went to a Buddhist temple and...

A new bucket - by Sofie

We’re back buddies!!!  This trip we are wandering over to Asia. We took the duke point ferry to Vancouver and stayed the night there before getting on a flight to Beijing. The flight was 14 hours so we watched some movies to pass the time. We stayed in China for less than a day and then hopped on a 2 hour flight to Korea. While we were in China we learned about the government and how it’s run - the differences there are to Canada and how we live compared to how we would if we lived in China.. We also ate so much Peking Duck and wandered the cold, snowy streets lined with big, boxy concrete buildings. We were excited to get to Korea and as soon as we got there  we met up with besties Katlyn and Roger at our BnB. They had arrived the day before us.  The next day we wandered the streets of Seoul and ate everything we came across. One of my favourites was the gas station Gimbap which we ate for breakfast. To Bashas annoyance, dad had about 10 coffees with the help of K...
