Zanzibar!

 Zanzibar - Sofie

After we took the flight to Zanzibar we took a shuttle to our hotel. I was feeling a little sick but I got over it. The hotel was full of flowers and our rooms were big. There was a bunch of baby puppies running around. My favourite is a little black one named Gerbil and a little tan one named Lincoln. My friend Yvonne named them for me. We slept well even though it was very hot. The next day we woke up early because Sara and mom went to go ride horses on the beach. Dad and I stayed at the hotel and ate the breakfast they provided. Then we went to walk on the beach. The water is a beautiful turquoise colour and the sand is white. We went swimming for a long time. We were starving after so we went to go eat at a restaurant on the beach. We ate a lot of food. After that we swam again and relaxed. The next day we woke up early again and Sara, mom and dad went to go swim but I stayed back. After they got back we ate breakfast and mom signed us up to go snorkelling. We took a little boat to an island about 40 minutes away. It was very hot so we jumped in the water. We stayed snorkelling for about two hours. There were so many different types of colourful fish and coral.  When we were tired we went back in the boat and the guides gave us fresh mango and pineapple. When we got back we relaxed and went for food.

So the plane to Zanzibar was ok I mostly just watched movies. When we got off it was so so hot!! We spent 1 hour in custom’s in a very long line up and finally we got on to our taxi to our hotel. The drive was about an hour long and it was really cool to see how people lived here. When we got to our hotel it was beautiful!!! Instead of rooms in one building the rooms were little cabins that had 2 beds and a bathroom. We had ordered 3 cabins: one for me and Sofie, one for mom and dad, and one for Roger and Kaitlyn( our friends that are travelling with us) there was also a family of dogs there were  4 puppies, a mom, another puppy and another mom. They’re so so cute!! The only place that has wifi is this lounge area with comfy chairs, games and a kitchen. We unpacked and then we went for a walk and then had dinner of fresh seafood. There are lots of stray cats here that are so cute. The next morning me and mom woke up at 530 am and got ready for our horseback ride on the beach at 6 am. When we got to the barn there the person gave us each boots and helmets and then he showed us which horse to ride. I got assigned a super fresh and crazy but cute pony named Lu lu. She was so fun to ride!! Mom rode a super lazy Arabian horse named Elsa. So I got to gallop lots and it was really fun!! The hardest part was trying to keep her from bolting and bucking! By the time we got back my legs were really sore but i was really happy. After we untacked we walked back to the hotel and had breakfast with dad and Roger. We spent the next couple of hours swimming and then we had lunch. I had a burger. Mom had kingfish caught right there, we all had fresh mango or passion fruit juice. Then we had yummy lime gelato. Then we swam again! In the evening me mom, dad and Sofie went on a long walk half way thru I got stung by a bunch of red ants, fell into a huge muddy pothole and got soaked, but we saw how the people here live. A water truck came to give them water once a day because they live in tiny metal or plastic shacks and have no water. There were so many kids running around and they all looked so happy.
